Wind Simulator Cue
Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Wind Simulator Cue controls external fan hardware to simulate wind on the driver or pilot. Wind intensity scales with vehicle speed, and optional settings allow yaw rate and canopy position to influence the left and right fan outputs independently — giving a directional wind feel during cornering or open-cockpit flying.
Controls
Section titled “Controls”Speed Intensity
Section titled “Speed Intensity”- Controls how quickly wind builds up with vehicle speed
- The slider adjusts the speed required to reach maximum fan output
- Higher intensity values mean maximum wind is reached at lower vehicle speeds
- The current required speed is displayed as a reference value (e.g., “20.0 m/s”)
Yaw Rate
Section titled “Yaw Rate”- Enable: Toggle checkbox to activate yaw-based directional wind
- Intensity: Controls how much turning (yaw rate) shifts wind from one fan to the other
- When enabled, turning left increases wind on the right side and decreases it on the left (and vice versa), simulating the sensation of airflow shifting direction during cornering
Canopy
Section titled “Canopy”- Enable: Toggle checkbox to factor in canopy position (for aircraft with opening canopies)
- When enabled, wind output scales with the reported canopy position — a closed canopy reduces wind to zero, while an open canopy allows full wind output
- Only relevant for flight simulations that report canopy state
Tuning Tips
Section titled “Tuning Tips”- Start with Speed Intensity around 5 to get a feel for how wind scales with speed, then adjust to taste
- Enable Yaw Rate with a low intensity value to add subtle directional wind during turns without the fans behaving erratically
- If you only have a single fan, the left and right outputs will be averaged — yaw effects will be less noticeable
- Enable Canopy only for flight sims that support canopy telemetry — leaving it on for unsupported games may result in no wind output
- Wind output is smoothed automatically to prevent rapid fan speed changes
- Wind values are clamped between the minimum and maximum values set in your Sim Config travel limits
