Offset Cue

The Offset Cue lets you shift the neutral (home) position of your simulator on any axis. This is useful for correcting physical mounting misalignments, adjusting your seating position preference, or setting a default tilt for immersion (for example, a slight nose-up pitch in a flight sim).

It also provides Center of Rotation (CoR) offsets for the three rotational axes (Pitch, Roll, Yaw), which let you adjust where the platform’s rotation point is relative to your seated position. This can significantly improve the realism of rotational motion.

Each of the six motion axes has an offset value:

  • Sway: Shifts the neutral position left or right
  • Surge: Shifts the neutral position forward or backward
  • Heave: Shifts the neutral position up or down
  • Pitch: Tilts the neutral position nose-up or nose-down
  • Roll: Tilts the neutral position to the left or right
  • Yaw: Rotates the neutral position clockwise or counterclockwise

All offsets are applied on top of the motion output from other cues, so the platform will move around the offset position rather than the physical center.

Available for Pitch, Roll, and Yaw axes. Each has three directional components:

  • Right (X): Shifts the rotation center left or right
  • Forward (Y): Shifts the rotation center forward or backward
  • Up (Z): Shifts the rotation center up or down

When a CoR offset is set, the platform compensates for the difference between the mechanical rotation point and the desired rotation point by adding small translational movements during rotation. This makes the motion feel more natural — for example, setting the pitch CoR offset forward places the rotation axis closer to where your head is, reducing the sensation of being “swung” back during pitch changes.

  • Use small position offsets to fine-tune your default seating position — large offsets reduce available travel range
  • A slight pitch-up offset (1–3°) can add immersion in flight simulators by simulating a cockpit angle
  • CoR offsets are most noticeable on platforms with short actuator travel — they help compensate for the rotation point being below or behind you
  • Start with CoR offsets at zero and adjust incrementally while the platform is active to feel the difference in real time
  • If your platform feels like it’s rotating around your feet instead of your head, try increasing the Up (Z) CoR offset for pitch and roll
