# MS Flight Simulator 2024

## Connection Method

**SimConnect** — DR Sim Manager connects to MSFS 2024 through Microsoft's SimConnect interface at **60 Hz**. No setup or configuration is needed.

## Setup Steps

1. Launch **Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024**.
2. In DR Sim Manager, select **MS Flight Simulator 2024** from the Source list.
3. Click **Start Motion**.
4. Start a flight — telemetry begins automatically once the simulation is running.

No plugins, configuration files, or network settings are required.

## Available Telemetry

MSFS 2024 provides comprehensive flight data through SimConnect:

- **Orientation**: Pitch, Bank (Roll), Heading (Yaw)
- **Acceleration**: Full 3-axis acceleration
- **Angular Velocity**: Full 3-axis rotation rates
- **Speed**: Indicated airspeed
- **Altitude**: Above ground level
- **Vehicle Name**: Aircraft type

### Telemetry Quality: ★★★★★

SimConnect provides clean, consistent data at 60 Hz. DR Sim Manager includes interpolation for smooth motion between updates.

## Recommended Starting Settings

- **Primary Cue Gain**: 60–90%
- **Smoothing**: Low to medium
- **Washout**: Medium — general aviation aircraft produce moderate G-forces

## Known Quirks

- **SimConnect dependency**: DR Sim Manager uses a connector library to interface with SimConnect. The required files are included with DR Sim Manager.
- **Camera state awareness**: DR Sim Manager monitors the camera state. External camera views may produce different motion behaviour than cockpit views.
- **Simulation state tracking**: Telemetry pauses when the simulator is paused or not in a flight (e.g., in menus or loading screens).
- **Connection retry**: If MSFS isn't running when you click Start Motion, DR Sim Manager will retry the connection every few seconds until the sim is detected.

## Troubleshooting

### No telemetry data

- Make sure MSFS 2024 is running and you are in an active flight (not in the main menu or loading).
- If using MSFS from the Microsoft Store, ensure it has finished updating and is fully loaded.
- Try restarting both MSFS and DR Sim Manager.

### Motion only works intermittently

- Check that the simulation is not paused (Active Pause or menu pause).
- MSFS can be demanding on system resources. If the sim is stuttering heavily, telemetry updates may become inconsistent.

### "Failed to load connector" error

- Ensure the required SimConnect files are present in the DR Sim Manager installation folder. Reinstalling DR Sim Manager should restore them.
